Adventure Dog Tuesday: Fall Lovin'

Good Morning, Friends!

It's been raining these colored, crunchy things for some time now.  Bosses say it is the peak of this season they call "Autumn", or "fall".  I've been helping them to my best ability to get the leaves as evenly dispersed as much as I can!

Fall Mums in the Backyard!
One thing I particularly love about the fall is that Bosses love to be outside more.  I love to be outside ALL the time, 'cause I'm an outdoorsy girl, after all....but those Bosses are just so picky.  We haven't had much time out there in the past few days because we have our two buddies (Kaiser and Trackr) and no fence. Luckily, our little black puppy (Trackr) found a new foster home, so Bosses can devote a little more time playing and exploring outside, and less picking up, well, you-know-what. ;-)

Check out this rainbow we saw after the last rain we had!!! Boss and I sat out and enjoyed the splendor.  We both thought the beautiful peaking fall colors and the rainbow were just breathtaking.

Gorgeous fall evening with a rainbow to boot!
We're gearing up for "The Big One" around here- yes!  My First Birthday!!!  It's on Saturday.  Hopefully the Small Boss will have some spare time to get all the preparations in order.  Sounds like fun to me!

Well, I've been on Bosses' computer too long- my tiny playmates are calling.

Fall colors and a rainbow.  Can't beat that!

Monday Mischief: Breaking News!! New Fluff!

Hello, everyone!

Prepare for trouble....

...make it DOUBLE!

You're not seeing double, we have raised you a Golden puppy!

This is our new buddy, Kaiser.  He's our foster puppy- not a permanent part of the family.  We're taking him in and teaching him how to be the best puppy until he finds his forever home.  Welcome, Kaiser, and we hope you enjoy it here with our furry little fam! :)

But wait!  There's more!  Bring a Golden puppy home and bring a Black puppy home!!!

Yes, you heard it!  We are temporary fostering another puppy as well- his name is Trackr.  He may or may not be Kaiser's sibling...we're not 100% sure.  They and one other pup (another supposed sibling) were found abandoned in a ditch in Alabama, and were rescued/transported to Minnesota to find forever homes.  Funny thing is...they don't look alike at all.

What do you think?  Siblings, or not siblings?

Sepia Saturday- New Camera Lens

Boss got a new camera lens after our camping mishap a few weeks ago, and she is really pleased thusfar!  She got one that zooms a lot further.  Does that mean that it can run faster than me?! I think not!

FitDog Friday: Healthy Snacks for Dogs

IT'S FRIDAY!!!

To celebrate such an occasion, I'd like to share with you special little snacks my bosses have made me:
  • Sweet Potato slices- dehydrated: Bosses have this cool thing called a "dehydrator", which cooks food at a low temperature for a long period of time, sucking all the moisture out of the food which is being cooked.  Bosses like to eat sweet potato fries on the grill, and they always buy an extra potato (or three) to make into potato-chip-sized slices for me.  When they're done cooking, they are a jerky consistency, and are perfect for a little "snackeroo".  Plus, the only ingredient?  Sweet potato.  Since the moisture is all gone, they last for quite some time, too!
  • Apple Slices- raw:  Raw apple slices are a nice treat at our place.  Usually, Bosses go apple picking in the fall, and bring home gratuitous amounts of apples.  They make tons of cooked/baked goods for themselves, and they give the extra pieces to me when I'm being good.
  • Apple Slices- dehydrated: The dehydrator works wonders on the apple slices.  After I'm done with a few slices of fresh apples, Bosses put the rest in the dehydrator to preserve them better.  Then I can have chewy apple slices/bits longer into the season!  Also? Only ingredient, again, is apples.  Can't go wrong with that.
  • Banana slices- raw: I love the ends of the bananas!  Bosses don't like the very last bit on the banana, so if I follow a training command or trick, they give me the tiny little nub off the end of the banana.  They think it's pretty funny when I eat that one- the texture of a banana is so chewy, I sit there and make the most hilarious face while chewing it.  Maybe a video of this will surface here later...who knows.
  • Pumpkin/Peanut butter biscuits: Small Boss is really into cooking/baking, so she bought a bone-shaped cookie cutter, and experimented by making some pumpkin/peanut butter biscuits for me.  She loves pumpkin-flavored things in the fall, so she figured she'd share the love.  She used rice flour (since I'm on a gluten-free diet), peanut butter, gluten-free oats, and pureed pumpkin.  She baked them at about 450 for 30 minutes, or until they were golden brown.  After they cooled off, they got nice and crispy.  Perfect snack!  My buddies liked them, too!
Please note that I, nor my Bosses, are veterinarians.  This is not dietary advice, and all of these snacks are fed in moderation, and not as a meal.  Bosses only give me a few of these per day.

What are your favorite healthy doggy snacks?  I'd love to know!  I love to eat- but I love to keep my "fit" figure!

Loving this fall weather!  Laying in the yard is my favorite (while the biscuits are cookin')!

Thoughtless Thursday: DIY Doggie Bed

Good Morning, Every"paw"dy!

If you have read my past posts about my crafty Boss, you'd already know this!

But if you haven't, here's one thing: Small Boss is really crafty.  Her creative mind is always flowing, and she loves to make me new things!  If you have a little bit of sewing knowledge, you can definitely make your furry friend a doggie bed.  Here are the various ones she has made!

The first bed is for my kitty siblings, Thor and Allie.  Bosses got these guys off a free Craigslist ad almost 3 years ago when they were 9 weeks old.  Since they cuddled together all the time, Bosses decided the kitties needed a bed.  I don't blame 'em, maybe they should get another one so they stop encroaching on my bed!  Ugh!

Aren't they cute?
Typical kitty sibling Thor...letting it all hang out.
Cuties in their kitty bed!
Sorry.  I digress. :)

So, that was the kitty bed.

The second bed was made for me.

Modeling my HUGE bed.
I can really stretch out in this thing!
The third bed was made for my friend, Willie.  His Bosses got a bigger place to live, so naturally, he needed a bed for both levels of their townhome!  Small Boss made him one for their living area.  Rumor has it that he loves it!  I made sure to sit in it while Boss was making it so that he could smell me all the time when it got to his house. He he he.

The fourth bed was made for, well, me again.  Boss has been experimenting with different shapes and sizes to see which bed I would actually sleep in.  So this time, she made a super fluffy rectangle.

Being a good little "momma" to my baby friend, Jax.
Chewing on a bone on my fluffy dog bed.
The fifth bed was made for my other buddy, Jax.  He went home with his Bosses and needed a puppy bed!  So, our family gave him a "welcome home" kit, which consisted of some of my little puppy toys and a fluffy little bed he could call his own.  I love my little puppy friend- I needed to let him know how much he meant to me!  :D  I tried to sit in his bed.  Not quite as successful- it kept my rump pretty cozy, though.

One of my good buddies Jax in his little puppy bed. So sweet.
Boss made these using some simple Geometry.  She drew out a couple sketches of what she would like the bed to look like, then she made these shapes into different "pieces" of which to sew together to get the 3-D shapes she needed.  Can you tell that Small Boss ditches me Monday-Friday to work in 4-6th grade Math class? ;-)

After she got the pieces cut out, she sewed the outer tubes together, as well as the bottom liner portions together.  Once those two portions were sewn, she assembled them by sewing the tube to the bottom liner portion, leaving a 5" portion open so that she could stuff each spot.

She stuffed them, and then hand-sewed the hole shut.  Voila!

Do you think they turned out alright?  What shape would YOU pick?  Or better yet, would anyone like her to make a detailed tutorial? :)
