FitDog Friday: The LAST Last Roughhouse

Hey, Everyone!

Happy Friday!  I'm sooooo happy we're finally to the weekend- TGIF.

It's a big day around here- Kaiser's big "Gotcha Day"!  His family will be here in a few hours to pick him up.  The 2 big humans are coming over earlier than their 2 small mailmen think- they don't think they're getting a puppy until tonight.  Little do they know, our friend will be there by the time they get home from school!  Woo hoo!

I'm not really allowed to play very hard with my little chew toy (whoops, I meant Kaiser)- he just got neutered a few days ago.  But, I can't help myself- we got a little exercise today to make sure he'll be nice and tired for his big adoption day. :)  I have to teach him how to be fit, right?

Enjoy some pictures of our last moments together! :)  Until our next playdate (or so we hope), we love you SO much, Kaiser (or now Geno)!!!

We share so well- I have to teach him how to eat sticks.
Those eyes....so gorgeous.
Boss got me a new collar!
Look at how big my buddy has gotten! Me (53 lbs) vs. Kaiser/Geno (now 15.5 lbs)
Look at Boss' beautiful fall bush!
I will sure miss going on our strolls around the yard together. <3

Wordless Wednesday: Bittersweet Time

I thought I'd use my last Wordless Wednesday before Kaiser leaves our house to celebrate our time together.  He just got neutered today, and so he's relaxing and recovering today- I guess I can give him some space so he can feel better ASAP.  I just can't believe he won't be here with us after Friday afternoon- I'm going to be one sad puppy :(

Monday Mischief: The Big Reveal

Good Morning, Friends! Sorry we didn't have a post yesterday- it was a very busy day around here.

Big Boss was on a business trip outside of the country, so we went to pick him up at the airport.  I missed him SOOOO much.  I was the one who picked him, if you read how I got adopted!  So, I am VERY glad his lap and hands are back to give me tons of attention.  Yay!  Here I am, waiting for him to get out of customs and baggage claim:

After we picked him up, we played a ton, inside and outside.  Of course, little Kaiser doesn't have the stamina that I have, so we had to let him take a quick puppy nap.  Because....yesterday was his big day.  He had a potential family come to our place to meet him!  People who have applied and are interested in meeting him come to our house (one family at a time) to see if the dog would be a good fit for their family.

The people who came to meet him were GRRRReat!  There were very friendly big humans, and there were two small mailmen that accompanied them!  They loved the two of us pups.  Of course, they were interested in Kaiser, but I made sure to butt my face into this shindig to get as much attention as I could get. ;-)

They couldn't resist him- they said Kaiser reminded them of their first dog.  That's usually a good sign, methinks!  They couldn't put him down- they gave him T-R-E-A-T-S, held him, let him run around and play with toys, let him play with me, watched him try to take a nap.....they fell in love with him!  We all could tell that it was a successful match.

The adoption policy is that a potential adopter waits a day (or "sleeps on it") concerning whether they would like to adopt the dog or not.  We think this is a good idea around here, so that the people don't make an impulse decision, take the dog home, and realize that maybe they made a hasty choice.  So.....24 hours will be up at noon today here in the lovely state of Minnesota!

What do you think?  Deal, or no deal? Maybe we can make a breaking news insert this afternoon!  We're hoping it's a deal, so that we can spread our mischief-makers everywhere! :)

Sepia Saturday: A Suitor!

Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!

Look!  Off yonder!  Driving from the East!

A suitor, to "woo" our tiny little buddy, Kaiser!

We're hoping that this family will be a match for our friend- we love him to pieces, but we know that there are many families excited to bring their own fluffy friend home.  Here's to hoping they fall in love!

We love you, tiny little Kaiser! :)

Thoughtless Thursday: DIY Durable (and Cheap) Dog Toy!

Hello, Pals!

We have been burning through dog toys around here, having 3 of us and all!  Boss has to get (yet again) crafty to make sure we're not learning how to eat furniture or kitties.  So.....with that in mind, she has come up with the solution:

DIY Dog Toys!

This is the first prototype of her "line" of toys for us.  This one is made of 4" wide, and long pieces of fleece.  Boss picked 1 color this time to make them look cute, but you can use any combination! She also uses 2, 3, and 4 color combinations- it's really up to you.  First, I must apologize for my Boss's horrible picture quality- taking pictures in her "craft room" is tough, especially when the sun is coming up!

Once she had the fleece laid out, she cut 4 equal segments of each color.

To start the toy, she tied a knot at the end to keep the work from coming undone.

Then, she started doing the knots.  You have to sort of "weave" the 4 strands- it's difficult at first, but once you get going and have less yarn to work with, it gets easier.  I always make an upside-down U, and on the other side of the knot, a "U", then think "over, under" to get the correct knot going.  It's slow going at first, but after a while, it's just habit.

Keep making knots until you decide that the toy is the right length (there is no "right" length- it's all up to you)!  Tie a knot at this end too, to finish the project off.  The tighter, the better!

You can also do this project with t-shirt yarn, but you have to use 4 strands to make 1 thicker "strand" to weave, resulting in 16 pieces of t-shirt yarn total.  Those tend to be really stretchy, but I still liked to play with them, nonetheless!

Ta-da!  A cheap, durable doggie toy that us friends LOVE!

We LOVE our new toys!

Monday Mischief: The Birth Day

Good Morning, Friends!

This weekend was a BLAST.  Thank you all for your kind birthday wishes- I feel so loved!  Saturday was our most mischievous day of the weekend- I regret nothing.  We made sure that my day was extra special, since, well, you only turn ONE...once!

Me posing for my 1st Birthday!
We started our day out by a big morning breakfast.  Bosses let us puppies go outside and play! I got to find all the sticks that have fallen with the leaves.  I decided to be a nice foster sister and share some with my buddy, Kaiser, too.

Sharing is caring!
Bosses then told me we were "going" somewhere.  I love the word "go"!  Bosses went quickly into REI, got me a sweet new food bowl, and then we went to a "Meet & Greet" at Chuck and Don's for RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota).  The Big Boss even let me sit in his lap up front, with the window rolled ALL the way down.  I just liked to rest my head on the window ledge and get all that fresh air in my nose.  It was WONDERFUL.  I even got to see the people who helped rescue me at the Meet & Greet!  They all couldn't believe that I was already one year old!  They even remembered picking me up for the first time when I was just two weeks old.  Ahh, reminiscing. :)

You can't catch me, Kaiser!
We took a mid-morning nap, because....well, we got a little worn out from the morning.  We played a bit more.  That's my specialty!

Aww, man!  You got it.  Now I have to get you!
After we woke up, we had lunch- another little feast.  I'm thinking everyday should be a birthday!  We had tons of T-R-E-A-T-S.

I kidnapped this fluffy friend from the bedroom and now it's mine.

Bosses even got me some birthday presents.  They got me a wonderful doggie bed!  Small Boss usually makes me one, but she found a deal on the foam/liner/"duvet" that was even better than buying materials.  So, this one is mine!

Eating yummy things on my new bed! So comfy!
I got a sweet bag of treats, TWO rawhide ribs, and a bunch of little toys handmade by my Boss herself!!!! SO COOL.
My haul from my birthday- not too shabby! :-)
We even went on an afternoon outing!  I'll be writing about that on Tuesday, because this one is getting a bit lengthy.

We played some more, ate some more, and passed out.  Just because the day was that good.  Bosses had friends over for something called "Bored Game Night".  They looked like they were having too much fun to be having a night devoted to "bored games", but I never said these people always made sense. ;-)  It was fun for Kaiser and myself, though, because that means that people come over to pet us!  Not a bad deal.

*Many treats were involved in the production of this photo*
Thank you everyone, for making my day special!

Black & White Sunday: Fall Birthday Recovery

Hello, Everyone!

Thank you sooooo much for your kind thoughts and wishes as I turned one today- it meant the world to me!  I'll be writing about most of the day tomorrow- but I had to take the outing and save it for Tuesday because there was just so much stuff we did yesterday! Okay, enough with my blabbing, onto a picture!

Birthday Anticipation: Friday.

Hey Friends!

Well, we spent all last evening getting all the goodies for my FIRST birthday tomorrow!  Yee haw!  The Bosses bought something really fuzzy and large...not sure what that is, but it looks pretty cool. I have also seen some polka-dotted conical objects with elastic on them make their way through the door.  Hmmm. Odd.  Wonder what those things are for.

Boss was making some really fuzzy rope toys last night- and she wouldn't give them to me.  Now that was just rude, but she was putting stuff in a box for safe-keeping.

WHAT. IS. IN. THAT. BOX. ?!

Boss is putting some nummy foods together for us to eat tomorrow, too.  I saw what I definitely know as rawhides in that box, a crinkly bag too.  I'm hearing rumors of "pup"cakes (for the furry friends), human cupcakes, and some puppy chow, which also is for the humans.  Sounds like it's going to be a pretty good time!

Here are some pictures from our day yesterday- Kaiser and I are really starting to bond and hang out more together.  How is this sweet little guy going to leave our house once he gets adopted?!

Thor, who loves to rule the house with a firm paw.
Kaiser again, loving his little space under the wine rack table.
I love my little buddy!  I like to hold his little paw now. :)

Thoughtless Thursday- Really, Really, Thoughtless

Well.....

....today is a day full of NO thoughts whatsoever.  Usually, Boss has some great ideas for me to expand on, but today, our idea just could not become a reality.  The puppies have officially worn us out!  The black puppy, Trackr, went to a new foster home 2 days ago, which has lightened the load quite a bit for the Bosses.  Which is perfect timing- they need to get ready for my birthday (that's Saturday!)!!!

Here are a few pictures from our last few days around the house.  Enjoy!

Fighting for my semi-stuffed Jaguar back! It's mine!!!
I LOVE having a little furry brother!
Little Kaiser can fit under the wine rack table...that's not fair! :)
Kaiser's brother, Trackr, right before he went to his new foster home!
Oh, here's my foster brother again...he is just too cute!
Trackr and I loved to play tug together.
I'm so glad Kaiser loves my little toys- when he's not playing with me! ;-)
